Abstract
The effect of N supply on the growth and chemical composition of nursery plants was studied. Two different nutrient solutions were used in sand cultures, each solution with 5 different N levels. The N levels in the second solution were double those in the first. At the lowest N levels a characteristic red colouring of the needles was observed. The data for amounts of dry matter show differences in the response of shoot and root to N fertilizers.
