Examination of droppings showed that in the Voronez region red-footed falcons, Falco tinnunculus L., fed chiefly on rodents and especially on Microtus arvalis Pall. They took other mouselike rodents, susliks and small birds. In contrast, kestrels, Falco vespertinus L., at the same period were living primarily on insects with common voles taking second place in their diet.
