The disease occurred on an acid diluvial soil about 2 weeks after transplanting & reached a maximum at booting or heading. Occurrence of the disease increased with heavy application of N or deficiency of P or K. Compost application decreased its occurrence. Ca increased its occurrence at first but later decreased it. Al increased the disease & modified the symptoms.
