Observations and experiences in breeding work on tetra-ploid fodder legumes. 4. Red clover (T. pratense), Alsike clover (T. hybridum), crimson clover (T. incarnatum) and black medick (M. lupalina)

Z. Pflanzenz, 48: 230-58

Black, medick. Tetraploid plants had a greater total weight than diploids, but were inferior in tillering, pod set and seed set. Numbers of leaves and flowers differed according to variety. Red clover. While S alleles reduce fertility in Controlled crosses between closely related lines, in practice they do not since in a large population of obligate cross pollinators close relationships do not arise.
