Observations on the genesis of terra rossa.

Observations on the genesis of terra rossa.

Zborn. Rad. poljopr. Fak. Univ. JBeograd, 7: 277, 1-12

Terra rossas are formed by decomposition of Mesosoic limestones which possess a SiO2: R2O3ratio of <2 and yield an insoluble residue of red colour. These soils are of old formation, possibly from the Tertiary period, but are not relict soils since they are not in disharmony with contemporary climatic conditions.
