PROGENY TESTING of dairy bull calves for growth rate has been announced by the Ministry of Agriculture Cattle Division to promote beef production from Israeli-Friesian dairy herds. The project will be carried out with the co-operation of farmers who will weigh the animals at a predetermined age. The data will be analysed by the Cattle Division. The progeny test will be based on a comparison with contemporary bull calves.
