Previous studies are reviewed and the results of further investigations at the Land-bouwproefstation, Paramaribo, in 1958 briefly reported. Ophiostoma coffeae was detected in many of the wilting and dead trees inspected (a common condition in Surinam) but the majority were free from fungal infection. The anatomical abnormalities in bast samples of the remainder agreed entirely with Stahel's descriptions of phloem necrosis; flagellates were also present.
