Abstract
Of the 13 races of Puccinia coronata f.sp. avenae identified on oats in New Zealand in 1953 and 1955, 11 were similar to the races reported from the United States in their effect on the differential varieties used; four, N.Z. 1 (U.S. 328), N.Z. 2 (U.S. 230), N.Z. 9 (U.S. 237), and N.Z. 12 (U.S. 286), have also been found in Australia. No single-gene source of resistance to the New Zealand races appears available.
