In Bulgaria the highest average non-irrigated tomato yield in 1953-1955 was produced by the variety Vitosa 525, centners/ha., while Hybrid 10 x Bison yielded 488 ct./ha. In trials on planting tomatoes at various distances from a shelter belt these varieties did best when planted south of the belt at a distance of 20 m. Peas without irrigation yielded 8 ct./ha., though the seed had a slightly coarser texture than that from irrigated.soil.
