Abstract
Lucerne was ensiled in cylinders of volume 1 c.m. with AIV fluid equivalent to 5 litres containing 78.62 g. HCl and H2SO4 (1: 2), sodium metabisulphite 400 g. or Kofa salt 250 g. per 100 kg. green matter. Losses in organic matter were 9.62, 17.75 and 18.36, dry matter 8.74, 15.35 and 16.87, N-free extract 19.64, 22.58 and 37.25 and N 15.57, 21.27 and 12.93 per cent., respectively.
