Reciprocal crosses were made between Mecklenburg Cold-bloods and Shetland Ponies to test the effect of the dam on the progeny. Data showing av. body measurements and percentage weight gains in the first 12 mths. are tabulated for each breed. Features similar in both breeds are described. In 5 foals from Shetland X Cold-blood matings body measurements clearly showed the influence of the dam.
