Reclamation of old meadows of the purple-melic-grass type.

On peat soil with high CaCO3 and low available P and K, 300 quintals/ha farmyard manure or 48 kg/ha N, 40 kg P2O5 and 80 kg K2O increased hay yields by 114-161%. The highest average yield for 3 years obtained with farmyard manure followed by NPK during the following years was 78 q/ha (an increase of 49 q/ha). Yields from annual NPK application were 63 q/ha (an increase of 34 q/ha). PK increased yields by 22 q/ha.
