Recombinations in Actinomyces rimosus

Recombinations in Actinomyces rimosus

Proceedings of the X International Congress of Genetics, McGill University, Montreal, Canada, August 20-27, 2: 4-5

Prototrophic colonies were obtained from mixtures of biochemical mutants belonging to the same or different strains of A. (Streptomyces) rimosus. Frequency of recombination within a given combination depended on the conditions of mixed growth. Conditions (unspecified) resulting in an increase of the frequency of recombination up to a thousand-fold were found. No recombinants appeared at all in a liquid medium, either in shaken flasks or under stationary conditions.
