Dry seeds of Triticum, Avena and Fagopyrum species, differing in ploidy level, were irradiated with a 60 kr. gamma -ray dose from a 60Co source. The seeds were then germinated and the developing rootlets were fixed at varying intervals after the commencement of germination. In all the specimens studied, there was a decrease in the number of chromosome fragments per 100 anaphase cells with increasing age, indicating that recovery from initial damage had occurred.
