Recovery of fertilizer nitrogen from soils

Missouri agric. Exp. Sta. Res. Bull, 738: 28

In experiments involving the incubation of different soils receiving various N fertilizers and growing Sudan grass, soils of a clayey texture suffered greater losses of added N, mainly by denitrification, than medium-textured soils did, irrespective of N carrier. Greatest losses of N generally occurred from urea, ammonia liquor and NO3 fertilizers.
