Recovery of recurrent parent characters from crosses of Solanum demis-sum x S. tuberosum in successive backcrosses

Recovery of recurrent parent characters from crosses of Solanum demis-sum x S. tuberosum in successive backcrosses

Amer. Potato J, 36: 345-57

The F1, BC1, BC2 and BC3 progenies of two crosses of S. demissum x S. tuberosum and the selfed progenies of the parents were grown together; S1 and S3 clones of S. tuberosum were used as recurrent parents. In the cross involving the S3 parent, the means of the F1 foliage characters were on the whole higher than those of the selfed progenies of either parent. The F1 means for tuber characters were similar to those of S. demissum.
