Recurring conjunctivitis in a lovebird

Recurring conjunctivitis in a lovebird

Tierarztliche Praxis Ausgabe K, Kleintiere/Heimtiere 34(1): 54, 59-62

A lovebird (Agapornis personatus fischeri) of unknown sex and indeterminate age (thought to be 6 years old) had traumatic bleeding round and within the orbit of the left eye in September 2003. This was cured by treatment with dexamethasone eye drops. In May 2004, conjunctivitis of the left eye recurred and after about 4 weeks the bird was examined and treated with levofloxacin eye drops and retinol palmitate eye gel, without success.
