Red Oak borer-primary enemy of our upland Pak

Red Oak borer-primary enemy of our upland Pak

Rep. Cent. St. For. Exp. Sta. 1959. 19-20

In the light of new findings, Romaleum rufulum appears to be the most important borer damaging wood of Black, Scarlet and Red Oaks, as the newly hatched larvae can bore directly through the bark to the living tissue, whereas <less than>1% of newly hatched Prionystus robiniae larvae can do so; these are frequently found in holes made by the former.
