Red Pine nursery stock fumigation in Michigan Conservation Department nurseries

Red Pine nursery stock fumigation in Michigan Conservation Department nurseries

Tree Plant. Notes. 37, 17-21,

cf. F.A. 21 No. 712.) Rhyacionia buoliana has become one of the most serious plantation pests of Pinus resinosa in Michigan. Careful removal of infested plants in the nursery does much to control the pests, but this is expensive and some infested trees are always missed. Fumigation of planting stock with MeBr after it had been lifted from infested beds was found to be very effective, caused no serious damage to the plants, and cost <less than> 4 cents/1000 trees.
