Red deer in Austria and the relation of densities to natural food supply.

Red deer in Austria and the relation of densities to natural food supply.

Ost. Vjschr. Forstw, 99: 1, 7-20

Summarizes the results of a questionnaire issued by the Austrian study group for wildlife research. The importance of sufficient natural food supply in summer and winter (shrubs, some pasture inside and outside the forest, etc.) is confirmed, but no clear-cut conclusions emerge. Winter feeding had little influence on the degree of damage by barking.
