Red heart in Beech.

Red heart in Beech.

Schweiz. Z. Forstw, 112: 8, 498-502

Observations in canton Schaffhausen on 56 stems on 7 sites indicated little correlation between site type and incidence of red heart. It was, however, more frequent in forked trees, trees with steeply ascending branches, and coppice growth. It was not found in stems <35 cm. d.b.h.
