Red leaf disorders of Pear in Calif

Red leaf disorders of Pear in Calif

Bull. Calif. Dep. Agric, 52: 3, 166-170

A typical autumnal reddish-orange foliage, which is described, was 1st observed in 1961. A brown line found in the phloem of the graft unions of affected trees confirmed its association with pear decline. Curl, another red-leaf condition, appears even later in the season on young, and occasionally old trees on domestic French rootstocks (Pyrus communis vars.).
