Red pepper, Capsicum annuum

Bull. hort. Liege 14: 318-25

The calorific value and contents of carbohydrates, vitamins (carotene, B1 B2, C), Fe, Ca and P of the fruit are given. The vitamin C content is reduced by indoor cultivation, close spacing and irrigation. Flowering, which requires long days, is advanced by artificial lighting as an extension to natural daylight, but is not achieved when artificial light only is supplied for 12 hours daily.
