Red rust

Red rust

Ser. Tea Res. Inst. Tocklai. 61/3: 4

The algal parasite Cephaleuros sp. attacks a number of plants in northern India including tea and certain shade trees. Factors predisposing tea to attack are: poor shade, inadequate fertilization, unfavourable soil pH, bad drainage, low fertility and unsuitable cover crops. Amelioration of these conditions is the best control measure.
