Red scale. Report on control by chemicals and natural enemies in Mildura and Cobram districts in 1957-58 season

Red scale. Report on control by chemicals and natural enemies in Mildura and Cobram districts in 1957-58 season

Citrus News. 34: 136-7

Tests of 9 schedules for red scale control favoured fumigation with hydrocyanic acid gas. Two sprays of 0.06% parathion gave control equal to fumigation or to fumigation followed by white oil. One spray of white oil (1: 40) gave adequate control and was cheaper than other rather more effective materials. A single spray of parathion per year at 0.06% failed to equal the control given by a white oil at 1: 40 or 1: 50 or by 0.06% malathion plus a 1: 80 mayonnaise emulsion of oil.
