Seventeen chlorophyll deficient mutants, eight of them induced by X irradiation and nine by atomic-bomb radiation, produced less than 10% mutant seedlings after self fertilization and in all but one of the lines, the proportion of heterozygotes among the surviving green plants was less than 67%. No visible chromosomal aberrations were observed during pollen meiosis in any of the mutant lines, pollen fertility was normal and seed germination was high.
