Reducing amounts of whole and skimmed milk and the fat percentage of whole milk in rearing female calves.

Reducing amounts of whole and skimmed milk and the fat percentage of whole milk in rearing female calves.

Jahrb. Arbeitsgemeinschaft Fiitterungsberatung. 62. 4: 110/118

From I day to 26 weeks of age 3 groups of 6 female Black Pied Lowland calves were given 300 litres whole and 540 litres skimmed milk, or had the amount of skimmed milk reduced by 240 litres, or had altogether 600 litres milk, including 150 litres whole milk. The calves were given concentrates, of better quality in the second and third groups than in the first, hay and dried beet slices. Most concentrates were eaten by the second group.
