Reducing cost on selected grade-A dairy farms

The objectives of this study were to determine resources available on the farms studied and an optimum forage to grain production and feeding ratio at 3 levels of milk production with a blend price of $5.73/100 lb. ; 17 sample farms were selected. Data obtained on production records showed that the farms could be classified into 3 groups with milk production rates/cow of 7, 000, 9, 000 and 11, 000 lb. 4% F.C.M. respectively.
