Reducing the fixation of phosphorus during acetic acid extraction of soils.

Reducing the fixation of phosphorus during acetic acid extraction of soils.

Trudy pochv. Inst. Dokuchaeva, 50: 358-378

During the preparation of acetic-acid extracts of soils a secondary fixation of P occurs, particularly in acid soils. The use of acetic acid and 1% 8-hydroxyquinoline mixture or 1% citric, acid for reducing the secondary fixation of P is inadvisable during determination of mobile P in acid soils because these reagents dissolve highly basic iron phosphates which are only slightly available to plants.
