Reduction in chromosomes and major polyploidy: their bearing on plant evolution

This exposition, which includes an outline of the author's "neo-reduction" theory and which distinguishes between major or ancient polyploidy and minor or secondary polyploidy, is exemplified by reference to the phylogenies of the polycarpic angiosperms, Rosaceae, Saxifragaceae and Hepaticae.
