Abstract
The following conclusions were drawn from extensive trials in E. Germany between 1951 and '58. For conditions prevalent there the late varieties of winter barley Rekord and Jutta yielded best; the early varieties Askania and Mahndorfer have a special importance on the fringe of winter-barley areas. Petkuser was the highest-yielding winter-rye variety.
