Serological studies on the differentiation of isolates of Bean yellow mosaic virus and its relationship to Bean common mosaic virus

At Inst. fur Virusserologie, Brunswick, differences between 4 isolates of bean yellow mosaic virus (YM) -L 778 from white bitter lupins, EV 500 from peas, WK from Wundklee (Anthyllis vulneraria), and an American isolate-were often detectable to a certain extent from a comparison of the homologous and heterologous titres. The 2 strs. that were most strongly differentiated gave only 1/62 or 1/75 of the homologous titres in cross reactions.
