Abstract
Soils along the river banks are rarely cultivated. Soils of saucer-like depressions are water-logged during the monsoon rains; drainage is poor because of underlying pan or high water table; P & K contents are adequate, N is poor and surface soils are neutral and subsoils alkaline; groundnuts and sugarcane are grown. Upland soils are neutral to acid and drainage is excellent.
