Investigations using histochemical techniques suggest that the susceptibility of hosts to penetration by Schistosoma mansoni cercariae varies with individuals. Old CF1, strain mice were less susceptible to infection than young CF1, strain mice; old CF1, strain mice were also less susceptible than either young or old C57 Leaden/Heston (A/He hybrid mice, which are known to age slowly.
