Spraying weeds in autumn

Spraying weeds in autumn

LandbVoorl 17(4): 182-3

Experience has shown that spraying to control buttercups when the first few flowers have opened is often unsuccessful. While all buttercups are sensitive to MCPA, the usual amount of control obtained is 90% for Ranunculus acris, less than 50% for R. repens, and none in the case of R. bulbosus. The cause appears to be that these 3 spp. flower at different times and that where all 3 occur together it is not possible to determine a precise date for effective summer spraying.
