This paper was read before the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Physiological Society in May, 1956. The experiments, using BAL for comparative purposes, are described under four subheadings, (i) In a single intraperitoneal injection in white mice, the LD50 levels of sodium aa'-dimercaptosuccinate and BAL-glucoside were found to be 2, 730 and 5, 660 mg. per kg. respectively.
