Studies on host-parasite relationships between larval trematodes and their hosts. IV. A hiscochemical determination of glucose and its role in the metabolism of molluscan host and parasite

Studies on host-parasite relationships between larval trematodes and their hosts. IV. A hiscochemical determination of glucose and its role in the metabolism of molluscan host and parasite

Transactions of the American Microscopical Society. 82: 3, 343-346

Using Pearse's (1961) modification of the method of Okamoto et al., Cheng & Snyder demonstrated glucose on the outer surface of the daughter sporocyst wall and within this wall in Glypthelmins pennsyhanumis parasitizing the hepatopancreatic cells of Helisoma trivolvis. Most of the hepatopancreatic cells of infected snails were negative for glucose; these cells of uninfected snails contain small quantities of glucose.
