The crops studied were upland rice, sweet-potato, soyabean, groundnut, buckwheat, sesame, foxtail millet and cocksfoot. Diurnal changes in photosynthesis showed strong correlation with diurnal changes in horizontal light intensity, the correlation increasing as leaf-area index of each crop increased. No substantial relationship was observed between photosynthesis and air temperature or time of day.
