Actagrobot 10(1): 53-97

At the Inst. Hort., Skierniewice, bitter rot in Poland was shown to be caused predominantly by Pezicula malicorticis and P. alba, both producing a creamy-grey conidial film on the fruit, while Glomerella cingulata, a rare agent, formed orange-pink spore masses. P. malicorticis, the most pathogenic, was the only one to attack the shoots, causing necrotic lesions; conidia on these and saprophytic growth on branch stubs and the bark represented the chief source of infection.
