Studies on the chemoprophylaxis of loiasis. II. Observations on diethylcarbamazine citrate (Banocide) as a prophylactic in man

Studies on the chemoprophylaxis of loiasis. II. Observations on diethylcarbamazine citrate (Banocide) as a prophylactic in man

Annals of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology. 57: 1, 82-96

Case histories are given in considerable detail of 4 volunteers infected experimentally with Loa loa and subjected to various prophylactic schedules of Banocide. Volunteers I and II had been previously exposed to loaiasis but their infections had apparently cleared; volunteers III and IV had had no previous exposure. I and II received 3 and 8 experimental infections respectively, and III and IV one each by means of infected fly bites or the injection of worms by syringe.
