On the Goto Islands, Japan, where filariasis bancrofti is endemic, 20 mg. of diethylcarbamazine per kg. body-weight given once a week for 10 weeks to persons aged over 5 years was more effective against microfilariae than this dose given every day for 10 days or given once a month for 10 months.
