Studies on the growth, development, yield and economic characters of Westerns-1 (Gossypium herbaceum var. weightianum) cotton in relation to periodical application of different insecticides

Westerns-1 cotton was sprayed 5 times at 10-day intervals from 55 to 60 days after sowing. The insecticides used were: folidol (0.02%), endrin (0.02%), malathion (0.1%), diazinon (0.02%), DDT 25% + BHC 25% (0.2%). In the folidol treatment elongation growth was more marked than meristematic growth. Endrin induced earlier boll production than the other treatments or the controls. Insecticide treatment generally led to a lower ginning % due to higher seed index, while halo length was increased.
