Abstract
Sprague Dawley rats of both sexes weighing about 100 g were given a thiamine-free diet (Nutritional Biochemicals Corporation, Cleveland, Ohio) until they began to lose weight; then 0. 5 micro g thiamine hydrochloride was given daily to keep them alive.
