In pot experiments the indica (Ptb 10) variety did well with 20 ppm N applied as NH4NO3 in presence of other nutrients, but suffered a depression in grain yields due to disturbed N metabolism (as shown by an increased ratio of soluble N: protein N during the vegetative stage) with a higher N supply.
