The behaviour in soils and plants of micro-amounts of strontium, caesium, ruthenium and zirconium..

The behaviour in soils and plants of micro-amounts of strontium, caesium, ruthenium and zirconium..

Pochyovedenie, 3, 1-16

In water cultures in which 50 micro C/1 of a given radioactive isotope was supplied throughout the life of the wheat plant or from heading onwards, the uptake of 137 Cs was considerably greater than the uptake of 90 Sr. Uptake of 106 Ru and 95 Zr was considerably less than that of 137 Cs and 90 Sr. 137 Cs and 90 Sr accumulated in the vegetative organs of the shoot, only 6-17% of the total absorbed remaining in the roots, but 83-95% of the 106 Ru and 95 Zr absorbed remained in the roots.
