The chemical composition and nutritive value of some common grasses in Uganda. 1. General pattern of behaviour of grasses

Information is given on the occurrence and agricultural value of the following common grasses of Uganda; Brachiaria brizantha, B. decumbens, Cenchrus ciliaris, Chloris gayana, Cynodon dactylon, Hyparrhenia rufa, Melinis minutiflora, Panicum maximum and Setaria sphacelata. Monthly data for the CP, crude fibre, digestible GP, SE and NFE contents of these grasses (except H. rufa and B. brizantha)from stations at Entebbe and Kawanda are presented graphically.
