The effect of furazolidone on the cultural and serological response of Salmonella typhi-murium infected chickens

The effect of furazolidone on the cultural and serological response of Salmonella typhi-murium infected chickens

Avian Diseases. 1: 180

Chickens maintained on wire mesh in isolation and orally inoculated with S. typhi-murium rapidly became infected in many tissue sites, most of which became culturally negative 30 days after inoculation. Furazolidone at 0.005% in the feed appeared to hasten the elimination of S. typhi-murium while 0.01% apparently restricted the infection to the intestinal tract.
