The effect of monochromatic ultraviolet radiation on reciprocal and nonreciprocal recombination in yeast

A diploid culture which was heterozygous at the adenine locus and heteroallelic at the isoleucine locus was subjected to ultraviolet irradiation of four different wave lengths. Reciprocal recombination between the centromere and the adenine locus resulted in red and white colonies and nonreciprocal recombination at the isoleucine locus resulted in reversion to isoleucine independence. The work did not enable a spectral separation of reciprocal and nonreciprocal recombination to be made.
