The energy of adsorption of mineral ions by soil colloids, and the mineral nutrition of plants. I. The energies of adsorption of various ions on pure clays.

The energy of adsorption of mineral ions by soil colloids, and the mineral nutrition of plants. I. The energies of adsorption of various ions on pure clays.

Ann. agron, Paris 10: 5-52

The adsorption and release of cations and PO4ions by pure clays were studied under equilibrium conditions of the solutions with the adsorbant. Energies of adsorption were generally low, and the calculated heat of adsorption was of the order of -500 to -10, 000 cal/ion-gram.
