Fifty-two wheats including winter-hardy, moderately winter-hardy and susceptible varieties were treated in the following ways before being sown in the open at Hohenthurm: (a) pregermination without vernalization; (b) vernalization at about 1 degrees C. ; (c) vernalization at - 3 degrees C. and (d) a daily alternation of (b) and (c).
